Lena Dunham posts photo of her previous hospital stay following Met Gala

Lena Dunham shared a photo from her hospital bed after she was rushed to the emergency room following her red carpet appearance at the Met Gala on Monday.

As we reported, the Girls star was taken to a New York City hospital for a complication stemming from her latest endometriosis surgery. Thankfully, she didn't have to stay there too long as an insider revealed just a few days later that she was back at her home and getting some rest. But her fans were still worried and sent the 30-year-old well wishes all week.

On Thursday, May 4, Dunham took to Instagram to thank them for all the love. She posted an image from the night she was in the hospital and right next to her bed was the lovely Elizabeth Kennedy gown she wore to the event earlier that evening.

“Thank you for all the love & concern that’s been pouring in since Tuesday,” she wrote. “Although I’m much healthier than I was a year ago, complications arose from my most recent endometriosis surgery.”

Dunham had an operation in April to move her ovaries further away from her rectal wall. That procedure was done to hopefully lessen the chronic pain she experiences from the disorder.

In her post, Dunham went on to discuss why she believes the GOP healthcare bill could negatively affect many women in this country.

"I am lucky to be in the position to seek help when I'm in pain. To those in that privileged spot- never forget that we are blessed and can pay it forward by supporting Planned Parenthood and LGBTQ clinics like Callen-Lorde with our ???? and ⌚️. I also want to remind all the women suffering from chronic illness that we aren't weak- quite the opposite, actually," she wrote.

Thank you for all the love & concern that's been pouring in since Tuesday. Although I'm much healthier than I was a year ago, complications arose from my most recent endometriosis surgery. When the healthcare of so many American women, especially our trans sisters, is at-risk- or already nonexistent- I am lucky to be in the position to seek help when I'm in pain. To those in that privileged spot- never forget that we are blessed and can pay it forward by supporting Planned Parenthood and LGBTQ clinics like Callen-Lorde with our ???? and ⌚️. I also want to remind all the women suffering from chronic illness that we aren't weak- quite the opposite, actually. We do our jobs with skill even when we're struggling. We care for our families even when we can hardly care for ourselves. We serve major face on a red carpet when we feel like lying face down would be more appropriate. I'll always be proud of those Met Gala pics- not just because I felt beautiful, surrounded by art and magic, hugging my best friend tightly, but because they're evidence that women contain steely multitudes. Just that morning @dianafalzone sued Fox after they took her off air for disclosing her endometriosis. But they're the ones who lost when they lost her, because everyone who's anyone knows that if you can battle chronic illness there's nothing you can't take on.

The actress went on to say that she will be proud of this year's Met Gala pics "not just because I felt beautiful, surrounded by art and magic, hugging my best friend tightly, but because they're evidence that women contain steely multitudes."

We agree that Lena certainly did look beautiful.
