NBC renews 'Blindspot' for season 3

The NBC drama Blindspot has been picked up for a 3rd season.

Despite it's initial large number of viewers and favorable ratings, Blindspot landed on the bubble after these numbers started to die down during season 2 when the show was moved to the Wednesday night 8 p.m. slot. NBC, however, is still earning money on the series according to Deadline, which is why executives have decided to green-light season 3.

Blindspot is centered around a tattooed woman who is found naked in Times Square with no memory of her own past. While trying to uncover this woman's identity, the FBI discovers that her tattoos are coded and connected to a series of crimes that must be solved.

The series first aired in September of 2015 and stars Sullivan Stapleton as Kurt Weller and Jaimie Alexander as Jane Doe. Other stars include Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, Ashley Johnson, Ukweli Roach, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Archie Panjabi, Luke Mitchell and Michelle Hurd.

NBC will reveal its entire 2017-2018 schedule on May 15, according to Variety.
