‘The Simpsons’ parodies ‘The Big Bang Theory’ in 30th anniversary couch gag

Last week The Simpsons made television history.

April 19, 1987, The Simpsons first aired on Fox sketch comedy series The Tracey Ullman Show. Last Friday marked 30 years of Simpson comedy, making The Simpsons the longest running show in television history.

To celebrate, The Simpsons parodied The Big Bang Theory opening theme song, blasting through 30 years of Simpsons episodes in 45 seconds. The Simpsons altered the words to the Barenaked Ladies’ “The History of Everything,” creating new lyrics that are more appropriate to The Simpsons anniversary:

“The whole Fox network was in a hot, dense state/Then nearly 14 billion years ago they began a TV show/Then Bart tried to sell his soul/Lisa turned to vegetables/Grampa started fighting bulls/Springfield built a wall…”
