Harry Dean Stanton

Harry Dean Stanton, the character actor with over 190 acting credits to his name, passed away on Sept. 15, 2017. He was 91 years old.

Stanton is well-known for his wide acting range and for often playing eccentric characters. He began his career all the way back in the 1950s, and has played such memorable characters as Brett in Alien, Bud in Repo Man and Carl Rodd in Twin Peaks. He also appeared in The Godfather: Part II, Escape from New York, Red Dawn, Pretty in Pink, The Green Mile and The Avengers.

Stanton’s final performance can be seen in Lucky — a film being released in the next couple of weeks and is about an aging atheist living in a small desert town. The film is directed by John Carroll Lynch (that’s right, Twisty the Clown himself) and has already picked up some Oscar-buzz for Stanton’s performance.

Fans expressed their admiration for Stanton’s work on Twitter:

The fella over there with the hella good hair. Movies and TV are my jam, and the fact that I get to write about them on a regular basis is the bees knees.
