Dr. Rebecca Brightman explains why SpeakENDO is so important to women

Dr. Rebecca Brightman is a respected OB/GYN in New York who is worried about the health of millions of women throughout the world.  Endometriosis is a painful condition that affects as many as 1 in 10 women, but it is often left diagnosed as women often get shy when talking to their doctor about their parts, but the movement SpeakENDO is trying to correct this situation.

March isn't only Women's History Month, it is also National Endometriosis Awareness Month.

Endometriosis is one of the most common gynecological disorders that affects women, but there is a lack of overall awareness of this painful and sometimes debilitating condition.

The most common three symptoms are known as the three Ps include:  painful periods, pelvic pain in between periods and pain with sex.

Other possible symptoms may include: painful bowel movements, painful urination, bleeding or spotting between periods, heavy menstrual bleeding, bloating, fatigue, feeling sick or faint, or vomiting during your period, pain in the lower back, abdomen, or groin, and difficulty participating in day-to-day activities because of excessive pain, exhaustion, or weakness.

It has been reported that women suffering from endometriosis may wait as long as ten years before they receive the proper diagnosis because women often get shy when speaking about matters concerning sexual health.

SpeakENDO is working to help women speak up and end the pain and the shame associated with this terrible condition.

It is being spoken about more these days in the media.  Julianne Hough is open about her battle with it.

Recently, Lena Dunham was open about her struggle with endometriosis and her eventual decision to have a hysterectomy.  Learn more about her story here.

Dr. Rebecca Brightman spoke with Michelle Tompkins for TheCelebrityCafe.com about her background, how endometriosis is diagnosed, why it often takes so long to detect, how SpeakENDO helps women battle this condition when women should visit their doctor, which questions to ask and more.

Dr. Rebecca Brightman advises women to go to SpeakEndo here to learn more.
