'Dragon Ball Super' hints at series continuation in finale

Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Super officially reached its climatic end when episode 131 of the Universal Survival arc aired on Saturday evening.

But Dragon Ball Super left some important details in the finale that lead fans to believe that the series is simply taking a break rather than coming to an end.

Following the miraculous appearances of Freiza and shockingly Android 17, who arrived to help Goku in the nick of time, The Tournament of Power culminated in a striking three on one brawl between Universe 7 and 11's remaining members. After Frieza and Android 17 nearly overpowered a drained Jiren to ensure Universe 7's victory, he gained a second wind, prompting Goku to rejoin the fray one last time. In a final boast of all-out will-to-win, Goku and Frieza teamed up, synchronizing their movements to take Jiren off the fighting stage, eliminating themselves by going with him.

Leaving only one member from either universe on the fighting stage—Universe 7’s Android 17.

The victory resulted in the promised wish from Super Shenron and Jiren’s Universe 11 being erased, but thanks to 17’s surprising wish, all of the universes that the Zenos eliminated were brought back to life.

But a few things happened that lead many to believe the series will resurrect itself.

Once all the battling stopped a few moments stood out: Whis revived Frieza as a gift from Beerus for his performance at the end against Jiren, which leaves one of the most sinister villains in the Dragon Ball series alive again—leaving Goku with the promise to stop Frieza and Frieza responding, ‘Well, we shall see’—more tidbits on Frieza to come later.

The Zenos then asked Goku if he would come back and he replied, ‘Sure I promise.’

Fans then see all of the fighters united again back at home, eating and enjoying each other. We also see Android 17 on a giant Capsule Corp. cruise liner, meaning he got his wish after all -- thanks to Bulma.

Following the musical credits, a clip of Frieza appears with him on his famed spaceship along with his henchman, saying,’ everyone, sorry for the wait. The emperor of the universe has returned!’

The clip points to a plot establisher for the Dragon Ball Super film which premieres December 14 in Japan that promised a connection to Frieza and the origin the of Saiyans.

And the final scene shows Goku and Vegeta battling in the same stance they fought in when they first collided as enemies and now as comrades. And as the sentimental vibes of the scene sets in, the narrator establishes a tone for the series’ future.

“The endless challenge to go beyond all limits continues. When a new, unknown powerful enemy appears, Goku and his friends’ adventures will begin again. Until then, a brief parting. See you all again!”

The official Dragon Ball Super website also released a statement via Twitter stating the following translated:
