Born on August 15, 1972 in Berkeley, Calif., Ben Affleck quickly rose to become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors, writers, producers and directors.

At a young age, Affleck knew he wanted to be an actor and landed his first gig as a kid in a Burger King commercial. He went on to appear in the PBS mini-series The Voyage of the Mimi at the age of 12, the same age he met his lifelong best friend, Matt Damon.

In 1993, Affleck made his big-screen debut with a role in the hit movie Dazed and Confused. Following his successful showing, Affleck went on to appear in several independent films like Mallrats in 1995 and Chasing Amy in 1997.

But the struggling actor’s biggest break came in 1997 when he and Damon starred in Good Will Hunting, a screenplay they wrote together in their early twenties. The movie won two Oscars and great acclaim, launching Affleck into stardom.

Since then, Affleck has headlined in countless blockbuster hits including Armageddon, Shakespeare Love and Pearl Harbor.

Affleck famously dated pop/hip-hop beauty Jennifer Lopez from 2002 to 2003, calling off their wedding just four days before walking down the aisle. Affleck eventually married the love of his life, Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner, on June 29, 2005. The couple is still happily married today, sharing three adorable children together — Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
