Conan O'Brien announces Robin Williams' death to a shocked audience (Video)

The death of Robin Williams has left everyone who knew his films saddened, but that is nothing compared to what people in Hollywood itself are feeling today. Many who worked with him have already released statements, either through Twitter or through Hollywood sites. But Conan O’Brien’s reaction will live on history as one of the saddest moments in recent TV history.

O’Brien heard of Williams’ death during the taping of Monday night’s episode of Conan. At the end of the show, he gave the audience the news and they can clearly be heard gasping.

“This is absolutely shocking and horrifying... and so upsetting on every level,” a visibly shaken O’Brien said.

He acknowledged that not much was known about Williams’ death. However, it was reported that authorities believe it was a suicide.

O’Brien then let sidekick Andy Richter and guest Will Arnett share their thoughts on working with Williams.

“He was an amazingly kind and generous person,” Richter said. “And it’s got to be a terrible time for his family. Our thoughts go out to them.”

“He was even better as a person,” Arnett said. “He was even more fantastic... just the loveliest, sweetest and one of the kindest guys that I’ve ever worked with.

Williams, who won an Oscar for Good Will Hunting, was 63.
