Eva Mendes breaks silence on daughter with Ryan Gosling: 'First opportunity' for her privacy was to hide pregnancy

Eva Mendes has broken her silence on giving birth to her baby girl with boyfriend Ryan Gosling; Esmeralda Amada Gosling. She also talked about her pregnancy, which she kept a secret until the final few months.

It was revealed Mendes was pregnant seven months into her pregnancy and she gave birth in September.

She chose Violent Grey’s digital publication The Violet Files to dish about first-time motherhood, and explained she had a lot of practice with her siblings’ kids.

When complimented for being calm, Mendes said, “I think I’m just exhausted as a new mom.” She also revealed she doesn’t have a nanny or baby nurse now but she’s “open” to having one in the future. For now, she’s “really going through it with her and battling out those nights.”

As far as somehow keeping the pregnancy a secret for as long as she did, Mendes said they knew "privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda," but "I think it’s unfair but that’s our reality. So Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could.”

She continued that her pregnancy “was the first opportunity to give her that. It’s such an intimate time for the mother, too.”

“I find the media’s ‘bump watch’ obsession to be both intrusive and stressful. So I made a decision to eject myself from it completely,” she said.

Mendes also dished about naming their daughter Esmeralda that they’re fans of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Amada was her grandmother’s name.
