Growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, George Clooney was a very sports-oriented teen. He loved basketball and baseball, and he even went so far as to try out for the Cincinnati Reds but was denied a contract.
After landing a small role in a feature film thanks to his cousin Miguel Ferrer, Clooney caught the acting bug and began to pursue a career in the industry. The young star’s first major role was on the TV sitcom E/R as Ace. He then went on to snag roles in The Facts of Life and Roseanne before landing his breakout role as Dr. Doug Ross on the award-winning drama series ER alongside Anthony Edwards and Julianne Margulies.
During his time on the show, Clooney starred in a number of big-name films including From Dusk Till Dawn, One Fine Day and Three Kings. The actor also starred alongside Brad Pitt and Matt Damon in Ocean’s Eleven and its two sequels.
Clooney won his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, as well as a nomination for Best Original Screenplay for Good Night, and Good Luck.
Other film credits include The Descendants, Burn After Reading, The Men Who Stare at Goats and Up in the Air.
Clooney is known for dating a number of famous women including Kelly Preston, whom he lived with in 1988, Lucy Liu, Krista Allen, Rene Zellweger, Elisabetta Canalis and his current girlfriend, Stacy Keibler.
