Jamie Foxx and Elton John team up for PSA

Jamie Foxx and Elton John record a PSA to raise awareness for the homeless gay youths of Los Angeles.

E! News reports that Foxx, John, and other celebrities, appeared in the PSA for the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center.

The PSA is a short film that features a boy who's parents kick him out after finding out he is gay. Living on the streets, he is raped, takes drugs, and turns to prostitution to make money. He contemplates suicide at the end.

"In most parts of the country, life is still enormously difficult for kids who are even perceived to be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered," Foxx said in the PSA.

"One of the most popular destinations for abandoned LGBT youth is Los Angeles, where they hope their dreams might come true," John continued.

The L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center offers counseling, GED preperation, job placement, mentoring, medical care, food, clothing, and a place to stay for the reported 40 percent of homeless youth in LA who are LGBT girls and boys.

The PSA, titled Any Given Tuesday, also features Lisa Ling, Lisa Vanderpump, James Woods, David Furnish, and Bruno Tonioli.

a representative spoke to Towerload about the project.

"Young writer/director Trent Kendrick and producer Michael Fossat were so inspired by their tour of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center... that they developed and produced this short film to heighten awareness and promote support for the Center," the representative said.
