Born in Rome, Italy and raised in Seattle, Washington, Joel McHale has become an actor, comedian, writer, television personality and voice artist. He graduated from University of Washington with a degree in History and earned a Masters in Fine Arts from the Professional Actors Training Program at the same university. In the beginning of his career, McHale was a part of Almost Live, a Seattle local sketch comedy show as well as participating in the comedy group Unexpected Productions from 1993-1997. Having moved to L.A, he started in small roles on a few television series and films before beginning to host The Soup, for which he has become rather well-known. McHale has had roles in films including Spiderman 2, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, and of more recently, The Informant! with Matt Damon. As of recently, McHale continues to host The Soup as well as be the leading man, Jeff Winger for NBC’s Community.
He has been married to Sarah Williams since 1996 and has two children with her.
