Johnny Depp

Born: June 9, 1963
Birthplace: Owensboro, Kentucky

Johnny Depp was just as much the rebel image in his teens as he is now. At the age of 15, Depp dropped out of high school to pursue his dreams of becoming a rock musician. Over the next few years, the future actor served as frontman to a number of garage bands, including The Kids, who once landed a gig as the opening act to Iggy Pop.

But his music venture was short lived after finding an interest in acting during a visit to Los Angeles. His then girlfriend and future wife, Lori Anne Allison, introduced Depp to Nicholas Cage and soon after, he was on his way to stardom.

In 1984, Depp appeared on the big screen in Tim Burton’s Nightmare on Elm Street. But it wasn’t until his role as undercover cop Tommy Hanson in the hit TV series 21 Jump Street in 1987 that he shot to fame.

The actor went on to star in a number of quirky, artistic films, including Edward Scissorhands, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Sleepy Hollow.

However, his biggest roles were those as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, as well as a modern day adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The hunky actor has dated several celebrities including Sherilyn Fenn, Jennifer Grey, Winona Ryder and Kate Moss. His only marriage, to Lori Anne Allison, lasted from 1983 to 1985. Depp shares two children with ex-girlfriend, French actress-singer Vanessa Paradis--daughter Lily-Rose Melody and son Jack.
