Britney Spears
Britney Spears was born in Louisiana on December 2, 1981. She grew up singing and dancing and tried-out for The Mickey Mouse Club, but was deemed too young. She then appeared on Star Search, where she won in the first round, but lost in the next. She then was offered a place on The Mickey Mouse Club.
Britney went unnoticed for a few years after her Mickey Mouse stint ended. But, she burst back on to the scene with her hit “…Baby One More Time.” The album went on to be the one best selling albums for a teenage of all-time.
In 2000 she released her second album, Opps I Did It Again. The album sold 1.3 million copies its first week and produced three hit singles. It was at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, Spears ripped off her black suit to reveal a body-colored outfit and paraded around the stage singing, “Opps I Did It Again.”
In 2001 she released her third album, Britney. However, the album did not live up to the previous two, producing only one hit record, “I’m A Slave 4 U.” In 2002 she stared in the movie Crossroads.
Spears returned to the top of the pop music scene when she kissed Madonna on stage at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. In November 2003, Spears released her fourth album, In the Zone.
Spear’s personal life has also been in the spotlight. She was romantically linked to Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC for several years. In 2004 she married her hometown friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas. The marriage ended two days later. She then began seeing dancer Kevin Federline. Federline and Spears wed, and have one son together. Spears maternal skills have come into question as pictures of her driving with her baby on her lap became public. She recently announced she has a second baby on the way.
