Marcia Cross

Marcia Anne Cross was born on March 25, 1962 in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

She graduated from Julliard and earned a master’s degree in psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles.

Cross has had a lucrative Hollywood career. Cross started on the CBS daytime drama, “The Edge of Night.” She also had roles in television movies like “The Last Day of Frank and Jesse James,” which co-starred Kris Kristofferson. In 1986, she starred as “Kate Sanders” on the ABC soap opera, “One Life To Life.” She played the role until 1997. Cross won acclaim playing one of “Melrose Place’s” most popular characters, the mentally unbalanced “Dr. Kimberly Shaw” from 1992 to 1997. She starred as “Dr. Linda Abbott” on the WB series, “Everwood,” opposite Treat Williams. She has also guest-starred on television shows like “Seinfeld,” and “Cheers.” In addition, she appeared on comedy shows like “Boy Meets World,” “Ally McBeal and “King of Queens.” Cross has also appeared on drama shows like “CSI,” “Profiler,” and “Touched by an Angel.” In 2005, she was nominated for her first Emmy for her portrayal of “Bree Van de Kamp” on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.” In December 2005, she earned her second consecutive Golden Glove nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.

In November 2005, Cross appeared on the cover of the new UK magazine, “Psychologies.”

Cross has also appeared on stage, in “La Ronde” at the Williamstown Theater Festival. She also appeared in “Twelfth Night, or What You Will” at the Hartford Stage Company and in “The Two Gentleman of Verona” at the Old Globe in San Diego.

As for her personal life, Cross was a long time companion of actor Richard Jordan. Jordan succumbed to a brain tumor in August 1983.

In 2005, rumors surfaced on the Internet that Cross was gay and planning to come out of the closet. She appeared on “The View” to deny the claims but said she was very supportive of the gay community. On June 24, 2006, Cross married stockbroker Tom Mahoney in San Gabriel, California.
