September was first month without NFL player arrest since 2009

September 2015 was the first month without an NFL player arrested since 2009 and just the second month since Roger Goodell became commissioner in 2006.

The surprising fact was brought up on Twitter yesterday by former San Jose Mercury News journalist Mike Rosenberg. He wrote that the only other month without an arrest during Goodell’s tenure came in July 2009.

Indeed, it you look at USA Today’s NFL Player Arrests tracker, it shows that there have not been any arrests since San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks was arrested on Aug. 26 on sexual battery charges stemming from a December 2014 incident. The other arrest in August came on Sug. 6 when Aldon Smith was arrested for DUI. Smith was later released by the Niners and picked up by the Oakland Raiders.

As CBS Sports notes, the Vikings still have the most arrests in the past five years. As Rosenberg tweeted in August, the Vikings have 18 arrests since August 2010, although the Vikings haven’t had an arrest since CB Jabari PArker was arrested in December 2014 for a DUI.
