Heart of the Sea
by Nora Roberts
In this final installment, it is up to the youngest to break the curse.
Darcy Gallagher knows she's meant for fame and fortune. She has the looks of a fallen angel, with excellent curves, dark black hair and sea blue eyes. She also happens to possess a voice that brings grown men to tears. She'd managed to save up enough money for a couple of weeks in Paris by herself, in style. Upon returning home, she was annoyed every morning by the constant construction outside Gallagher's Pub. While the town wasn't growing, Gallagher's had become the place to be for local music, a perfect pint, wonderful company and some of the best food around. When the Gallaghers themselves weren't performing between cooking and serving, they scheduled local bands to entertain their patrons.
Trevor Magee is a wealthy American entrepreneur who's teamed up with the Gallaghers to provide a local theater to Ardmore and its surrounds. He also happens to be related to a former resident of Ardmore. Old Maude fell in love with Johnny Magee at a very young age. And although Johnny died young at war, Maude never loved another. She lived a quiet (and very long) life in Faerie Hill Cottage. After Jude paired with Aiden and moved out and Shawn paired with Brenna and moved out, Trevor rented the cottage to live in while overseeing the building process and almost immediately fell in love with Darcy Gallagher.
As couple number three begins to form, Carrick (Prince of the Faeries) becomes more impatient than ever. It is apparent that his love Gwen is impatient as well from the friendly assistance given to Trevor while he lives in her cottage. Carrick pushes the couple, who are the most stubborn two of the six he'd chosen to end the curse. The couple has to choose love, declare themselves and not let petty things or cross words get in the way of being together.
It is hard to decide whether this couple is the most interesting and fun or the most shallow and frustrating. It's obvious to everyone (except Darcy and Trevor) that they'd be perfect together. In the end Carrick gets his Gwen, and the audience gets to see the continuation and eventual wrap-up of books one and two. Love it or hate it.
