Tempered Faith: Rediscovering Hope in the Ashes of Loss
by Jennifer Sands
A tempered Faith is a love story culminating in one woman's journey
So much has been written about the September 11th tragedy, do we really
need one more book to retell the tale and recount life? Yes. Having just
completed another 9/11 book, I though I might just skim through this one,
but Jennifer Sands weaves the journey of her husband's short life and her
personal aftermath with such ease, that I found myself reading every word.
Jim Sands worked on the 103rd flood of Tower 1 in the World Trade Center.
To most, I'm sure he was an ordinary man, but I'm also certain to most who
knew him well he was extraordinary. Like thousands of others, he went to work
on the infamous day and he never returned home.
There are so many profound lessons to be learned from this event and his
wife Jennifer carries us along on her discovery road. Though the subject
matter is unquestionably sad, it is at the same time uplifting,
inspirational and hopeful.
Ms. Sands quotes Abraham Lincoln, "Sorrows comes to all...perfect relief
is not possible, except with time. You cannot now realize that you will ever
feel better... and yet you are sure to be happy again." Each of us may not
have lost a loved one in the World Trade Center, but most of us can unfortunately
relate to tragedy, loss and sorrow in one way or another.
A tempered Faith is a love story culminating in one woman's journey - a
spiritual journey that stumbles upon many deep and profound truths about life and its meaning. She
answers no questions, but somehow at the end of the book her pondering make
you feel as if you are closer to the answers.
