Bygones
by Kim Vogel Sawyer
Prodigal daughter returns home, forgiveness, etc.
Marie Koeppler left the Amish Community 23 years prior to the start of this story. She took off with a semi-driver and before her baby girl was born, he was killed in an accident.
Marie tried to return to her home after the baby was born but her father refused to let her. Her Aunt had kept in touch with her all those years and when she died, Beth (Marie's daughter) was given the house and cafe on one condition: they had to live in it for three months. Thus begins the return of the prodigal daughter, restoration of faith and eventually family.
Reluctantly Marie and Beth return to the Mennonite Community. Thefts begin to occur and everyone looks to blame them for them. Thus begins a series of events that almost keep Henry Braun from letting Marie know how much he loves her.
Henry had never quit loving Marie when she left and broke his heart and kept praying all those years for her return. It is a tender touching story that is hard to put down. From the first sentence you are drawn into the story. There are places you want to weep. The story ended with me wanting to get the next book but I have to find out if Marie and Henry marry, etc.
The Christmas before Marie is to leave is so touching as her father finally accepts her back into the family.
