Zora Hurston and the Chinaberry tree

With the voice of her mother's belief, a little girl never gave up on her dreams.

Zora Hurston and the Chinaberry tree won "Pick of the Lists," an American Bookseller Award.

Author William Miller and Illustrators Cornelius Van Wright and Ying-Hwa Hu bring the true story of Zora Hurston, an African American writer, who had the greatest gift a mother could give a child: the blessing of never giving up on one's dreams.

Zora's beautiful full heart and strong-minded spirit as a young girl kept blossoming, as did the influence of her mother's wishes for Zora to keep believing and reaching those dreams even in the most difficult of times.

Engaging and moving are the words, visually soft and full of expression are the illustrations.

This story touched me. It has such a calming and inspirational light. Makes you proud of your dreams with the strong message that the world is there for everyone to explore and learn from. It is such a phenomenal message to send out to children of all ages.
