Duck
by Randy Cecil
A charming tale about a duck, a duckling, a dream of flying, and an importance of friendship.
Randy Cecil’s Duck is an absolute must-read book for children. One cannot read the charmingly cute story and not fall in love with Duck, Duckling, and even the book itself. The book is adorable, sweet, nicely illustrated…there are endless descriptions to the positive traits of Duck. Those who haven’t read this book are surely missing out.
Duck tells the story of a lonely carousel duck named (not so surprisingly) Duck. Duck has spent all her spare time watching real ducks and wishing that she, too, could fly with them. Duck’s life revolves around her dreams of flying until one day, she finds something more important—or someone, rather.
One day, Duck meets a Duckling, a lost little duck, and from the moment, everything changes for both of them. Inseparable, they laugh, play, and even dream together.
But then one day, Duckling’s yellow fuzz turns into white feathers and catalyzes more change. Suddenly, Duckling is doing all sorts of things real ducks do—that is, except for flying. Duck then makes it her mission to teach Duckling to fly. However, she soon comes to the realization that the only way for Duckling to fly is for him to join the real ducks.
Duck tells a wonderfully touching story about self-sacrifice, strong friendships, and dreams. This Cecil story is uplifting, inspiring, and fun.
