David Melling offers children an adventure story in Good Knight, Sleep Tight. Once upon a time, there was a baby princess born to a royal family. As with many births come presents; the best present of all was the “softest, fluffiest pillow in the kingdom.” However, when one day, the royal cat ruins the pillow, drama ensues. The princess might never stop crying if she does not have the “softest, fluffiest pillow.” If she cannot sleep, no one else in the kingdom will be able to dream of doing so either. Good thing her brother is quickly to the rescue!
The only way to solve the dilemma would be to find something extremely soft and fluffy to fill the pillow with. But what could possibly work? With the help of his loyal horse, the knight searches for the solution. Prickly bear hair seemed too scratchy. Wolf hair seemed too bristly. Feathers seemed just right. However, what will happen when even with her new soft and fluffy pillow, the princess won’t stop crying?
Good Knight, Sleep Tight is an amiable children’s book with a fun-filled plot. The fairy tale twist in combination to a bedtime story is quite creative. With fun, adventure, and humor, Good Knight, Sleep Tight is a story to be surely enjoyed.
