Complete Guide To A Creative Retirement, The
by Robert Kelley
A guide to a period in our lives that we tend to ignore.
We have guides to travel, guides to schools, and guides to guides. This is a guide to a period in our lives that we tend to either look forward to with rose colored glasses, or we tend not to think about at all. Creative Retirement began as a search for the author after he went to his local video store, and was awarded a gift certificate for taking out the most videos. He was embarrassed when he realized, becoming a couch potato, was what retirement was for him.
He researched and discovered that with better health care, people are retiring earlier and earlier. The span of retirement years ago, was five to ten years, now retirees can enjoy twenty five to thirty years- a big difference. In America, the current average age for retirement is now fifty seven.
This manual, gives the retiree not only food for thought and strategies, but actual work sheets for helping the reader analyze his personal needs.
The first half of our lives is consumed with being educated, earning a living, paying bills, and raising families, the last segment of our life should be our reward for services rendered. Creative Retirement advocates a retirement not just filled with babysitting grandchildren and watching more television, but one with passion, quality of life, a zest for living and conscious choices. This book helps you to set personal goals to make your retirement years exciting and rewarding.
The other statistic that is frightening is that divorce in our country seems to spike in the first five years of marriage and after retirement. Perhaps talking with your spouse about some of the issue in this book will help preclude that.
The last few chapters in the book give you eighty projects to consider exploring. They are separated into categories, depending on your personality. This is a great book if retirement is in your near future.
