Betrayed

by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

Fledgling Zoey Redbird is settled into her new life and when she thinks it couldn't get any worse, she has to deal with human students dying and the death of her best friend.

After reading P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast’s novel, Marked, I knew I had to continue on with reading the rest of the series. Betrayed is book number two and equally as amazing as the first.

Fledgling Zoey Redbird finally settled into the House of Night. She managed to come to terms with her magical powers and settled into her new position as the leader of the Dark Daughters. Zoey never felt like she belonged in her old life but now feels like she fits right in with the rest of the school-besides the fact that she has more powers than the average fledgling.

She even has two boyfriends, Heath and Erik. Zoey should let go of Heath, who was a part of her human life. They don’t see each other anymore and he should get out of the picture. Erik is the right guy for Zoey. He’s truly genuine and she could have not chosen anyone better for her. However, what’s a novel without a little drama?

The mystery in this book starts when human students start dying. These students were actually a big part of Zoey’s old life. Since Zoey and her human boyfriend, Heath, have Imprinted (she tasted his blood), he still has strong feelings for her. The bond between two Imprinted people is very strong and it cannot be easily broken.

It was sad when one of Zoey’s closest friends passed away in her arms. After that incident, Zoey began to notice strange things happening around the House of Night. The leader of the House, Neferet, has been acting differently and she had to get to the bottom it.

When it comes to a book series, sometimes the second book doesn’t measure up to the first. I must say that this does not apply to Betrayed. This book picked up exactly where Marked left off. Within the first few chapters, you could tell it’s a lot darker than the first and creates tension that makes you yearn for more.
