Family Circle Eat What You Love & Lose
by Peggy Katalinich and Susan McQuillan
Learn how to cook and to keep it healthy.
The food department staff at Family Circle magazine is responsible to test and taste around twenty-five recipes that appear in each issue of Family Circle. If you think that is a lot of cooking and eating- they have to triple taste and test each recipe! You might start thinking- how do they stay thin? Well, unfortunately the members of the food department staff gradually started to put on pounds over the years. They then realized that with their combined expertise and experience they should be able to come up with a low fat and calorie diet that didn't taste like Styrofoam.
I must say they succeeded. Not only did they all lose their goal weight but also the recipes are very tasty. The book details a two-week menu of three meals and two snacks. It gives a list of substitutions in case you don't like a certain food item. The book is full of over 250 recipes ranging from breakfast entrees to sinfully tasting desserts. Each recipe includes nutritional information and they are all relatively quick and easy to make.
Even if you don't want to follow their diet, the recipes are wonderful. It is hard to find flavorful healthy recipes, that taste like they are not good for you! I definitely enjoyed all the recipes I sampled. I especially enjoyed the shrimp taco salad and the crust-less artichoke quiche.
I highly recommend this book of easy to follow, great tasting recipes that will help you stay healthy.
