Lamb

Read the real story behind Christ's life. You'll laugh, you'll cry.

Ah. The History of God- who doesn't want to know about that? I for one, most certainly do. And if it involves Chinese concubines named Tiny Feet of the Divine Dance of Joyous Orgasm, hey, I'm not going to complain.

Lamb is Christopher Moore's masterpiece, and I know this because I've read many of his dazzling oeuvres, like Island of the Sequined Love Nun, The Stupidest Angel, A Dirty Job, and more recently, Bloodsucking Fiends, and none of them even come close to the brilliance of Lamb, even though they are pretty well-written.

Lamb traces the life of Christ's childhood pal, Biff, and their days together- both the ones in the Bible, and the ones not in the Bible. The latter include his time in China, India and other assorted destinations in the East. Since Christ was a good guy, sober and chaste, Biff naturally had to indulge in enough debauchery for both of them, you understand, it was all for the Lord's vicarious pleasure, and therefore he naturally did it all with little reluctance.

There is also Mary Magdalene or 'Maggie' who both men are madly in love with, despite Biff's philandering ways. But Maggie loves Joshua, and that's that.

If you love humorous novels that don't sacrifice on the pot, this one actually tells a very good story, then get Lamb. It is highly recommended.
