Then We Came to the End

Have you ever laughed out loud while reading a book? If you haven't, grab a copy of Joshua Ferris's 'Then We Came to the End,' immediately. This book is wildly funny and will literally have you laughing from beginning to end. Ferris strategically chooses his words to create this brilliant novel.

From the first paragraph, Ferris will have you hooked.

'Then We Came to the End' tells the story of an unidentified advertising agency in Chicago and its decline in 2001. Ferris traces a group of white-collar employees and the family they form within the office. He does an excellent job in capturing the perfect office atmosphere and the things employees do to get by their work day, including gossip that infiltrates the office, the small things you do such as pulling pranks on people to cure boredom, and the entertainment one finds in finding free food in the employee work room.

Ferris also uses the first person plural voice, which makes you feel like you're included in what he's talking about, even if you're not a victim of working in a cubicle office.

While the bulk of this book is wildly hilarious, it is also heartfelt and sincere. Ferris does an outstanding job in portraying how your work becomes an essential part of your life. It is surprising how true it stays to reality while simultaneously being able to amuse. He hits the hammer right on the nail with the utter boredom and cynicism that fills the office.

This book will thoroughly engage you, entertain you, and make you laugh.
