Bittersweet Love
In 'Bittersweet Love,' Belinda Eaton is dedicated to her job as a history teacher in one of Philadelphia's most troubled high schools, but now Belinda must learn that love will arrive when one least expects it. At the lowest point in her life, Belinda is handed something she doesn't know if she can handle. Losing her sister was heartbreaking and the reader could feel it, but the same goes for Griffin Rice, who just lost his brother, Belinda's brother-in-law. What neither is expecting is to get guardianship of their twin nieces/goddaughters.
Alers really tapped into the emotions of Belinda, her confusion about her sister's decision, her sense of loss, and her uncertainty when it came to Griffin. Although Griffin feels the same way, he hides it through his arrogance, but as the two begin to work together, they can no longer fight what they have been for years. They begin to see different sides of one another and find comfort in each other's arms when the thought of being new parents becomes overwhelming.
Raising twin girls is not easy for the two, but neither was falling in love for two of the most stubborn people a reader could ever meet. The laughter, the pain that this family goes through only unmasks the love that Belinda and Griffin were hiding or didn't know they had.
