All right, I'm in is a rush to be a grandma! Thoughboth of my children are married, neither of them is expecting a child. But, Ilive in hope. I'm ready for a baby, and I'm ready to throw a shower.
Not long ago, I planned and survived a themed weddingshower for my daughter. Since her wedding would take place inDecember, the theme for her shower was the holiday season, complete withmini-lit-up- trees on each table. Happily, that went off successfully.
Now, my eye caught this book -- Themed Baby Showers--and I read it in secret. It breaks down the arduous task of organizing peoplefor a fun afternoon together into simple "baby" steps for the novice partyplanner. The chapters are divided into 15 party themes, like, Baby101, A Star is Born, and Shake Rattle and Roll. I have already picked outmy favorite chapters: ABC and A Star is Born.ABC describes how each guest is asked to bring afavorite storybook for the new baby, while a Star is Born in which stars and goodwishes abound. There are plenty of ideas for invitations, favors, party games, and evenfood dishes. The party planner can certainly pick his/her favorite ideas fromlots of different themes and put together a fun party of their own.
The ideas of sitting with a bunch of people allafternoon, looking at one baby outfit or diaper pail after another can tendto be boring. This book is a jumping off point for anyone who is planninga baby shower and is hoping to add a few memories to the day.
