Fat Girl

The true story about what it was like growing up as the

Fat Girl,' by Judith Moore, is an edgy and candid memoir of growing up fat and being the 112 pound girl in second grade. Along with being fat, Moore's life involved a father who abandoned her and a mother who was 'wicked.' Her diet failed just like she failed to find love at home.

This book may sound like it would be too depressing to get through, but Moore writes brilliantly as she never writes in a tone of self-pity. The book isn't all sad, but it is intriguing as you follow this woman's journey to find peace and a happy ending.

When reading this book, don't expect to find that happy ending you want to find so badly for Judith Moore. Yet, what you can expect to find is complete honesty and courage from the writer. That's what makes this memoir worth reading: to honor the bravery it took for Judith Moore to reflect on such an awful childhood.

Moore is also the author of 'Never Eat Your Heart Out.'
