Boomer to the Rescue
by Peter Parente
Boomer is a lavender skunk, who on his first day of school discovers that it is all right to be different.
Boomer is nervous about starting school and not being liked by the other forest animals, but he soon finds out that it is all right to be different. This is a familiar story of acceptance and how each person only wants to fit in with his peers. Many young readers will identify with the lovable character of Boomer.
The story is a simple one, as Boomer a lavender skunk is at first laughed at by his classmates, then shortly comes to save the day.
The illustrations by A & O Ivanov are colorful and cartoon like in nature.
The story holds a simple moral lesson in that our differences are what makes us unique.
The book is appropriate for ages four through seven and is a great gift to ease the start of school jitters.
