What Mommies Do Best/ What Daddies Do Best

Two books in one, back to back.

This little book is unique in two ways. First of all, it is literally two books in one. On one side is the title "What Mommies Do Best," and on the other side, with the pages reading in the other direction, is "What Daddies Do Best." The other interesting aspect of this book is that it has been published under the series title of 'Stories to Go.' In trying to get good books into the hands of as many young readers as possible, the publisher has made the book lightweight, portable, and best of all for parents, reasonably priced. With the cost of quality books soaring, it is so important to have books like these available to parents and their children.

'What Mommies/Daddies Do Best' is a series of situations that exemplify what a parent does to love us-- from making snowmen, to baking birthday cakes, kissing goodnight to playing in the park. The illustrations are cute animals, and there isn't a stereotype to be found in either the drawings or the text. After reading both sides of the book, I reread the text to double check that, indeed, both the moms and the dads were noted for doing the same things. Mommies teach children to ride bikes as well as give piggyback rides, while daddies take care of you when you are sick and give hugs.

Educators will love the concepts in this book. Children will enjoy the idea of turning the book to read it from the other side, and parents will love that a good book can be affordable. Parents and children on the go will enjoy 'Stories to Go.'

This book is recommended for ages 4 through 8.
