When Nina thinks that she is about to purchase a perky puppy to help her get over her divorce, she stumbles on Fred, who is looking more down than she is. After she brings home her mopey canine compatriot she decides to train him to use the fire escape as his means of going out when she is at work. The next day when Nina returns home to find Fred missing, who should turn up but Alex, her hot downstairs neighbor, with Fred in tow?
