Albert's Gift For Grandmother
by Barbara Williams
Albert, the turtle, tries to find a gift for his grandmother's birthday.
“Albert's Gift For Grandma,” is the story of how everyone in Albert's turtle family, seems to have come up with a great gift for Grandma, except Albert. His mother bakes a birthday cake, his father builds a stepstool for her feet to rest on, his sister makes a pretty pink bracelet and his brother entertains her with some skateboarding tricks. Poor Albert was going to take her outside to teach her marbles, but the weather turned cold. Albert finally decides to give away his most prized possession- his blankie. After all, he's a big turtle now.
The watercolor illustrations by Doug Cushman add to this revisiting of Albert's character. Williams and Cushman joined together on the first book- “Albert's Impossible Toothache.”
This endearing story will delight readers age 4 to 7. It teaches young children about the art of giving gifts from the heart and it may also encourage those young children trying to give up their own blankie.
