Dating Dead Men

"Dating Dead Men" is about Wollie Shelly, a greeting card shop employee, who hopes to own the shop one day.
The shop is on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, Calif. Wollie has been making her own greeting cards called Wollie's Welcome! Greetings. In order for her to one day own the shop she has to pass the test that her boss, Mr. Bundt has for her, which is secret spies that look like ordinary people.
In order for Wollie to get some money to buy the shop, she has decided (with the help from her friends) to enroll in a Dating Project. It has to do with the book she wrote called "How to avoid getting dumped all the time!" So she has to date 40 men in 60 days. But of course Mr. Bundt cannot find out about this. And since she spends a lot of time at work, she has to make these appointments at work.
One day she gets a call from her brother, P.B. who is in a mental hospital. The call doesn’t last long, but it’s about a murder. So Wollie drives out to see her brother, and is not too worried, as long as he keeps taking his medication everything will be fine. Or so she thought, until she found a dead body on the side of the road. She just leaves the body and continues to drive to the hospital, because she is afraid that her brother P.B. is somehow involved. It’s after hours at the hospital, but Wollie somehow manages to get in the building. She is in the elevator with a man in a doctor’s suit, with a gurney. Then two security guards enter the elevator as well. The "Doctor" then uses Wollie as a hostage, to get away.
The Doctor turns out to be a former convict, but despite that, Wollie seems to find him attractive. He has a mute daughter named Ruby, and a pet Ferret named Margaret. He’s also shorter than Wollie with no shoes or a car. Plus he does not have a job. All the things that are required on Wollie's list of a good boyfriend. Yet she still can’t stop thinking about him.
Wollie eventually finds out that "Doc" is being chased by these ruthless people who think he has something they want, or knows where it is. Wollie wants him to tell her the truth, but he doesn’t want her involved with his problems.
How does Wollie manage to date 40 men in 60 days, find out who or why that guy was murdered on the side of the road, find out what the secret is with "Doc", tries to pass her boss’s tests, tries not to get killed by these thugs that are after "Doc", tries to prove that her brother didn’t kill someone and baby-sit the ferret Margaret, all at the same time? Well you will have to read the book to find out if she does.
