'Twas The Night Before Christmas
by anonymous
An account of a visit from St. Nicholas
In 1823, a newspaper in upstate New York printed an anonymous poem titled, "Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas." The poem spread quickly as youngsters had "visions of sugarplums dance in their heads." In 1844 Clement C. Moore claimed to be the author of the popular poem. Through the years the true identity of the author has remained a debate and a mystery, but the poem itself has become a true Christmas treasure.
In this reissue of the well-loved classic, Matt Tavares, the illustrator adds old world charm to the story. The beautiful pencil drawings capture the magic of the season with a warm touch.
This book makes a wonderful Christmas gift for ages 4 to adult and will be reread each holiday season.
