Anatole
by Eve Titus
A 50th anniversary of a classic story about Anatole the mouse.
This Caldecott Award winning book is timeless. Anatole is the story of a sweet, hard working mouse, who discovers, by an overheard conversation, that people were not too happy to have mice scrounging around in their homes for bits of food. Anatole, who was only trying to help feed his wife and six children, had no idea that he was unwanted.
In an attempt to earn his dinner, so to speak, Anatole decides to work anonymously in a cheese factory, by tasting and rating the cheese. Children will enjoy reading the happy ending, which teaches the lesson that we all need to work hard for what we receive.
The warm illustrations by Paul Galdone bring Anatole, his family and his loyal friend, Gaston, to life.
This is a sweet story that has endured the test of time.
