B is for Burglar
Kinsey is back in this second book! This time, Beverly hires her to find her missing sister, so she can sign some inheritance papers, which Kinsey finds weird, but she does it anyway. When Kinsey stumbles upon some clues that suggest her sister Elaine may not be just missing, but dead, Kinsey tells Beverly she should go to the police and file a missing person report. Beverly freaks out, and refuses. Kinsey finds that very strange, and is really worried about Elaine. When she tells one of Elaine's neighbors what Beverly said, that neighbor decides to hire Kinsey to find out what happened to Elaine herself. The neighbor is an old lady, who is excited to be helping Kinsey. She and Elaine's tenant both try to help Kinsey the best they can, in locating Elaine, which proves to be very difficult. They keep finding clues that suggest she may have witnessed aprevious murder that happened a few days before she disappeared. And maybe she is on the run, or the killer killed her as well. Kinsey finds a lot of evidence, just not enough to solve the case. Then when Elaine's tenant's place gets robbed, while she was in her bed sleeping, Kinsey must figure out who did it, and why that person stole Elaine's mail.
Sue Grafton's series about the female P.I. Kinsey are interesting, and keep you reading until the end. I found this book compelling, yet another one of those must reads. I am giving it a 9 because I honestly couldn't figure it out myself. Now either I am dumb, or the author is very good at making the reader stumped until the end.
