C is for Corpse
by Sue Grafton
Another female P.I. book
In this third book in the series, Kinsey goes to a gym to help her arm heal, after being shot on her last assignment. There she meets Bobby, a 23 year old who looks like hell. She gets to know him, and finds out that he was in a terrible car accident a few months ago, was in a coma, survived, but his friend didn't.
Bobby thinks that it wasn't an accident. He can't remember much, but he does know that a car rammed him off of the road that night. So he hires Kinsey, because he is scared for his life.
A few days later, Bobby ends up dead. Apparently, he had a seizure, while driving, and hit a tree. Kinsey doesn't seem to believe that, or at least thinks that his death is still murder.
With Bobby gone, Kinsey doesn't have much to go on, except some red address book that Bobby gave to someone. Neither Bobby nor Kinsey know who has it.
So it's up to Kinsey to find out who killed Bobby. He was just a 23 year old, and Kinsey was smitten with him, in a friend type way. She is determined to find out who did this, and why.
I enjoyed this book, as I did the first two. Any good murder mystery is a good read, as far as I'm concerned.
