Charming the Prince

by Teresa Medeiros

A Cinderella story with Medeiros' unique twist.

Medeiros has taken the Cinderella story and worked her own type of magic upon it. Lady Willow of Bedlington loses her mother as a young girl. When her beloved papa brings home Lady Blanche, Willow can scarcely contain her excitement at the prospect of having a new mama to love her. But that is before she finds that Blanche has no need for a child to love—she has an entire brood of her own; a brood to which Willow is promptly assigned to play nursemaid. Willow becomes a servant in her own home, sentenced to tend to her stepmother’s brats and do the wicked Blanche’s bidding.

This is where Lord Bannor’s faithful steward discovers her, ten years later. Mistakenly thinking her to be precisely the homely, biddable little creature that his lord instructed him to find, Sir Hollis, standing in Bannor’s stead, marries Willow and whisks her away to Bannor’s fairy tale castle. But Willow is devastated to find that her prince charming merely wanted a nursemaid of his own for his brood of twelve spirited children.

Willow decides that revenge is in order, and proceeds to recruit Bannor’s own children in an all-out war against their papa. Somewhere along the way, Bannor and Willow fall in love and a happily-ever-after is inevitable.

Medeiros’ unique brand of humor and charm is at its best in this heartwarming fairy tale gone awry.
