Anyone But You
by Jennifer Crusie
Divorced 40 year old, is lonely and gets a new dog, and a new crush on a much younger neighbor.
Nina is a 40-year-old, recently divorced, single, lonely woman. She's so lonely, she decides to get a dog. She was all set to get a new spunky puppy, but when she sees this sad, sad dog, and finds out that it's his last day, she decides to take him instead. She calls him Fred.
He is sort of an ugly dog, but Nina doesn't care.
When Nina meets her neighbor, Alex, she gets all hot and bothered by him. Alex is a doctor, a younger doctor, which Nina can't forget, and thinks of him as a kid. Alex finds Nina attractive, and wants to go out with her, but Nina keeps turning him down. She seems to think that she is too old, and her body is changing too much.
Also, Nina must deal with helping her friend publish a book, which is turning out to be a nightmare.
I loved this book; it's one of those books you can't seem to put down. The author did a fantastic job.
