Who is Frances Rain?
by Margaret Buffie
A teen discovers a family secret, and ghosts, while on summer vacation.
Fifteen-year-old Lizzie is going to her Grandma's for the summer. But this time, the whole family is coming with. Lizzie isn't thrilled with this idea, but she can't do much about it.
Her Grandma lives in a cottage in Winnipeg Manitoba. Lizzie is not happy, until she explores Rain Island. On this island she finds some ruins of a cabin. She also finds some spectacles. When she puts them on, she sees ghosts—two ghosts living on the island.
These ghosts have a story to tell, and need help, so Lizzie keeps going back to the island to find out who they are, and what their story is. She soon finds out that it has something to do with her own family. But what exactly is that? And with her family fighting all the time, will they be able to finally get along?
I enjoyed this book, mostly because it's a local author, and also because I found it very interesting. I recommend this book to any young kid, or teen.
