Good Sports

A book of rhymes about sports of all kinds.

Jack Prelutsky, the author of this book, won the distinction of being named the nation's first Children's Poet Laureate in 2006. He has written over 40 award-winning books and compiled over eleven poetry anthologies. Good Sports features his "rhymes about running, jumping, throwing and more." Any child interested in sports will enjoy the fun in his verses-

"I had to slide into the plate,
It was my only chance.
Though if I hadn't slid then I
Would not have lost my pants."

The illustrations are done by 2006 Caldecott Medal winner Chris Raschka, and together with Prelutsy's verses, they form a winning team. The drawings done in watercolor and ink add a child-like touch of whimsy to the poems.

Children ages 4 through 8 will enjoy this book.
