The Burglar who Traded Ted Williams
The lovable Bernie is back!
Bernie is back burglarizing again. After a year of nonburglarizing, he decides to do it again. He is desperate. He needs money to save his book store.
This is a confusing mystery involving a series of events that sees Bernie burglarize an apartment, return the stash, and then re-enter the place to plant evidence after finding a corpse in the bathroom. Bernie sets out to find out who committed the murder, plus who committed a burglary that he's been mistakenly charged with.
Carolyn, his friend, got him a cat for the mice problem he has in the store. And the discussion about Sue Grafton (another of my favorite authors) between Bernie and Carolyn is priceless. I love this character. Bernie is just so lovable.
