If you are looking for a very funny book, look no further. David Sedaris' Me Talk Pretty One Day is an absolutely hilarious read. The concept itself is a deliciously rich one: Nothing about Sedaris' life has been normal, and the author stresses this point by relating adventures from squaring off against his French teacher in France to his adventures as a mover.
Sedaris writes casually, making the reader feel as though he/she is engaging in direct contact with Sedaris, listening to the author speak of past travels. The chapters in this book are not always connected, as Sedaris sometimes jumps around between time periods and physical locations for each related adventure.
Me Talk Pretty One Day is not only a comic gem, but is also heartfelt. The most impressive part is that Sedaris really experienced the vast majority of these things and how well he has written about the same experiences, bringing laughter to many others.
