The Importance of Being Earnest and Four Other Plays

The Importance of Being Earnest and Four Other Plays is a book that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an entertaining and also rich read.

"The Importance of Being Earnest" is a glorious short story and play. Oscar Wilde's story is very easy to read and goes by quickly. It is witty, funny and also wacky, and it is a romantic story at heart. It is a farce and a very intelligent one at that. The plot is twisty and full of the most unexpected and enjoyable twists, starring Algernon and Jack as two men in love with two women. To complicate matters there are mistaken identities, surprise relationships, and women who only want to marry men named Ernest. The title, like the play itself, is a play on words. The other plays of this book are very interesting and branch out into more than comedy, but also have intrigue and romance. "An Ideal Husband," the last play in this collection, is like "Earnest" in its wit, easiness to read, and colorful characters.
