Get your Xanax, Zoloft and Prozac ready: You're Going to Need It

Research has shown January 24 to be the most depressing day of the year.

Research conducted by The Stress Institute has found evidence that this coming January 24, 2006 will be the most depressing day of the year. I am feeling depressed just thinking that my tax dollars went into this report. It seems that clinical tests of people whining and moping about their holiday bills and their tax refunds not coming fast enough has initiated a book tour for Dr. Kathleen Hall, who is also offering tips on how to avoid the blues.

Ontario Tractor Trailers Will Have to Go Slower

Tractor trailers in Ontario could soon face a speed cap of 105 kilometres an hour, says a published report. Toronto Star states that Ontario's Transportation Ministry is reviewing a proposal from the Ontario Trucking Association on Tuesday, to cap the speed limit. The association, which represents 700,000 registered trucks in Ontario and provides companies with reports and pertinent information, says trucks will have to activate a device built into most newer trucks that would prevent them from going faster than 105 km/h.

The latest and greatest from our mailbag

Worthwhile Magazine, Natural Health, Magazine, Mesh Magazine,More Magazine What's On, The Las Vegas, Cowboys and Indians, and Parade

Another column, and another ton of magazines to go through. Every week they're sending us dozens to look at, and here are some of our latest highlights.

First, we saw 'Worthwhile Magazine,' which is "worth" it (bad pun intended) for anybody who needs a little self-motivation. Warning though, it's not for the lazy at heart. They do these great case studies which will break your heart when you hear the average day of an active person.

'Natural Health Magazine' says "yes" to juice and lists 1,001 reasons that juicers are great.

Celebrity marriages declining?

Our recent poll asked readers "With the most recent, Charlie Sheen /Denise Richards marriage, do celebrities have a harder time surviving the vows of marriage?"

A whopping 73% of TheCelebrityCafe.com readers felt that celebrities have more trouble keeping their marriage vows on solid ground. Twelve percent said no, 9% said they didn't know and 6% thought, yeah, maybe celebrities do have a harder time keeping their marriage vows.

But why? Celebrities are real people, who suffer marital problems like the rest of us, and sometimes, I think, we expect too much of celebrity marriages.

Did You See... Fine Gardening to Fit Pregnancies

Debut of our babble on magazines.

Well, this is the initial column where I'll take a look at what the competition is working on. Being a magazine-aholic, it's an easy job but somebody has to do it. Every week we get a few dozen magazines to go through so why should we figure out the highlights for you.

To start with Star magazine seems pretty focused on the fact that people are splitting up. Nick and Jessica are "fighting and crying", Brad and Jen might still be split and is Britney in agony over the fact that Kevin is in love with his ex?

TheCelebrityCafe.com Readers Are Looking Forward to 2005

According to a recent survey, TheCelebrityCafe.com readers are a glass-is-half-full type of crowd.

Readers were asked the question, "Are you looking forward to 2005?" Thirty-nine percent responded that it would be the "best year ever" and 32% percent thought that it would be "a little better." Not bad considering goings on in the world today. Need we mention the situation in Iraq, the tsunami wiping out over 150,000 people in Asia and the plethora of problems in our country and the world over. Mind you, I'm not trying to bring down the positive vibe, just pointing out that it's really refreshing to see that the majority of voters are maintaining a winning outlook.

Ho-Ho-Hum: Exploring the True Meaning of Christmas

Has commercialism destroyed the true meaning and spirit of Christmas?

TheCelebrityCafe.com recently held a poll asking about your thoughts on the commerciality and true meaning of Christmas. The question was straightforward, as were the results. There were 347 votes, and more than half (200 to be exact) thought that Christmas had become too commercial and lost its true meaning. One-hundred thirty-two voters thought the holiday has become too commercial, but has not lost its true meaning.

Live show DVDs, Music DVDs and more... oh my.

Where is this trend going?

A long time ago, way back in the 1960s, people used to release an album every six months and they were thought to be completely insane. New material every six months? What in the hell are you thinking? How can you write and record so often? You should spend more time on your projects.

Then came the 1980s and people released an album every few years. People waited anxiously for U2 to come out with a follow up to the famous 'Joshua Tree' album. Again, life was good.

Now, at the turn of the century, we've come full circle, but in a completely different way.

Lord of the Gorilla

Peter Jackson is back directing the remake of

The 1933 movie King Kong is coming back to life thanks to the Oscar-winning director of Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson, who has emotional ties to the film.

"It's great to be able to get the film made," Jackson said to reporters from his New Zealand studio. "It's a film, which I've loved ever since I was a child. It really inspired me to want to become a film-maker."

While this film does not have any hobbits or elves in it, there will be one familiar voice. Andy Serkis, who was the model and voice of the computer-generated "Gollum," will return to voice the gorilla.
