Tonight, BET is proud to present The BET Honors which, for the fifth year in a row, is being hosted by actress Gabrielle Union. With awards season in full throttle, it’s kind of like “another day, another honor!”

In a pre-taped ceremony [the original taping took place on Jan. 14], Willow Smith, Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Common, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Terrence Howard and Cicely Tyson, among others, helped celebrate some of the most inspiring people today.

LL Cool J hosting 2012 Grammy Awards

Looks like LL Cool J is really living up to his name.

Kanye West, Adele and Bruno Mars lead Grammy Nominations

Rapper Kanye West led the way among Grammy contenderson Wednesday after he earned seven nominations for his album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” and his collaboration with Jay-Z “Watch the Throne.”

Nominations for the top awards were announced on Wednesday during a televised concert in Los Angeles with performances from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and The Band Perry.

Oprah receives honorary Oscar at Governors Awards ceremony

Oprah Winfrey received the Academy of Motion Picture's Arts & Science's Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, which is an honorary Oscar award given out periodically for philanthropic efforts. She was one of three honored at the Governors Awards last night.

"I never imagined receiving an Oscar, especially for doing what is a part of my calling, part of my being," Winfrey revealed upon receiving her award.

MTV announces second O Music Awards of 2011

In order to reflect just how fast the online world changes tastes in the U.S., MTV has announced that they will have a second O Music Awards show on Oct. 31 that celebrates digital music and social media.

MTV made the announcement today and has already launched a site where fans can vote on categories like Best Artist with a Camera phone, Best Music App and Must Follow Artist on Twitter.
