Whitney Houston and 'The Bodyguard'

The tragic death of music legend Whitney Houston, ironically, coincides with the 20th anniversary of her movie debut The Bodyguard (1992).

In that film, she played Rachel Marron, a singer/actress who, after being nominated for an Academy Award for her acting, begins receiving death threats. This leads to former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer (played by Kevin Costner) being assigned to protect her as Oscar night approaches. The two begin to fall in love with each other as Frank’s efforts to protect Rachel increase.

Big Time Rush's 'Elevate' Album Review

Artist:
Big Time Rush

Big Time Rush’s Elevate features a song called “Show Me” which states, “The track begins, you pull me in.” And that is exactly what happens with every track on this album.

2011’s Elevate is packed with feel-good dance music, infectious pop hooks, and breathtaking ballads. From kindergartners to college students, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Parachute's 'The Way it Was' Album Review

Artist:
Parachute

Parachute’s The Way it Was is a beautifully written, exquisitely performed album with heartfelt lyrics and pitch-perfect harmonies.

A follow up to 2009’s Losing Sleep, which featured the hit “She is Love”, The Way it Was establishes Parachute as multitalented musicians, perhaps even pop-rock royalty.

Why everyone’s talking about Lana Del Rey: 'Born to Die' review

Artist:
Lana Del Rey
"Born to Die" is addictive

You may have heard someone ask, “Who is this Lana Del Rey person,” in which case you may picture the ever so lovely, voluptuous-lipped, sundress wearing singer who is notorious for her single, “Video Games.”

Originally knows as “Lizzy” Grant from Lake Placid, NY, the talented artist is known for embellishing her songs with vintage Hollywood, America vibes.
Generating “buzz” within the Internet music scene, this 25-year-old songstress, reminiscent to miss Marilyn Monroe, recently released her first album, “Born to Die.”

'My Week with Marilyn' Soundtrack

Artist:

While My Week with Marilyn isn't exactly a musical, the film's main subject is such an iconic star of both music and the big screen, that it's not only natural, but necessary for the film to have a stellar soundtrack to accompany it.

Michel Hazanavicius created a silent film for present day film audiences but the best aspect of the film is the only thing you can hear: It's music.

Review: 'Here We Go Again: Celebrating the Genius of Ray Charles' by Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis

Artist:
Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis

Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis' second collaboration, Here We Go Again: Celebrating the Genius of Ray Charles, is a spirited and fun live tribute album to the one and only Ray Charles. The album features not only Nelson and Marsalis, but also Norah Jones who sings on a few songs. The combination of their sound works well and would have made Ray Charles proud.

Nelson and Marsalis first worked together in 2007, playing live at the Lincoln Center. That performance spawned their 2008 album, Two Men with Blues.

Review of The Duke and the King's self-titled album

Artist:
The Duke and the King

Listening to new music can be daunting. Sometimes you have to listen to a song multiple times before you form an opinion on it. Sometimes, all it takes is a few minutes of a track to decide you love it. And rarely, very rarely, you find a song that you love the second you hear the first note.

Tom Wopat's 'Consider it Swung' Album Review

Artist:
Tom Wopat

Tom Wopat’s Consider it Swung is an intriguing mix of classic songs with a jazzy, soulful twist. It offers a cool, relaxing vibe that takes the listener back in time, much like the music of Michael Buble. Full of intelligent lyrics and emotion-filled delivery, ‘Swung’ is a plausible effort from the former TV star.

Runner Runner album review

Artist:
Runner Runner

American pop rock band Runner Runner may have released their first self-titled album last year, however, the relevancy is still there.

The songs display emotions that we have all felt, but may have been unable to share ourselves in such a medium.

The album has the ability and melody that will be able to stand up to the passage of time, as the songs are very relatable. It is definitely not the greatest album of all time, but it has songs and hooks that can meld with the feelings that people can match up to.
