Actor Ben Gazzara dies at age 81

Ben Gazzara, an actor who made his mark on stage, television and film, died Friday at the age of 81 in Manhattan.

Gazzara’s lawyer, Jay Julien, confirmed his death to the New York Times. Julien told the Times that the cause of death was pancreatic cancer.

British actor Nicol Williamson, best known for his role in the 1981 film Excalibur, died at the age of 75.

Williamson died back on Dec. 16, but his son, Luke, waited until Wednesday to make the announcement on his father’s website. Luke wrote that his father had been battling esophageal cancer for the past two years. “He gave it all he had: never gave up, never complained, maintained his wicked sense of humor to the end. His last words were ‘I love you’. I was with him, he was not alone, he was not in pain,” Luke wrote.

‘Hugo’ writer John Logan to write ‘Jersey Boys’ film

Hugo screenwriter John Logan has been hired to write the screenplay for a film adaptation of the hit Broadway show, Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the two-time Oscar nominee was hired by Hugo’s co-producers, Graham King and Tim Headington to write the film.
